Richie Steffen on growing Ferns

Shade tolerance, lush foliage and unusual textures drew Richie Steffen, co-author and co-photographer of the Plant Lovers Guide to Ferns, to these ancient and beautiful plants over 25 years ago. His love of ferns has led to travels around the world to observe ferns growing in the wild as well as in public and private gardens. His personal garden is home to an extensive collection of species and cultivars with a substantial collection he helped create at the Elisabeth C. Miller Botanical Garden. Richie will share tales and tidbits from the book as well as his thoughts on traditional and modern use of ferns in the garden.
