Gwendolyn van Paasschen on John Brookes and Denmans

Denmans in Sussex is famous as the garden of John Brookes (1933-2018) the garden designer. However what is less well-known is how he took over the garden of highly innovative gardener, Joyce Robinson, who appears to be the inventor of that classic modern garden feature, the gravel garden. Here, the Director of the garden, Gwendolyn van Paasschen talks enthusiastically about their friendship and the making of one of the great Modernist gardens of the Britain.
