Plants, Gardens, Landscape
A place to share experience, knowledge, skills and ideas
for garden designers, landscape architects, horticulture professionals, keen home gardeners and anyone else concerned with quality and biodiverse planting.
Our winter webinar series
We have posted all of our webinars until March, on the diary page. We have got lots planned, from a Clematis grower in Ukraine, to the Head of Royal Parks horticulture enthusing about conifers, James Hitchmough pondering where design segues into maintenance. 2025 will see some great content for garden designers, such as a three-parter by leading design guru and teacher Andrew Duff and a mini-course on visualisation basics.
Check out our new podcast channel
We’ve just launched a site on Substack to be a podcast channel, offering weekly free podcasts, as well as tasters for more information-heavy content which will only be available to members. This will carry the audio version of some of our Thursday Garden Chat output, as well as recordings made specifically as podcasts. We've also got a whole archive of material dating back to our first days online in 2020 – where this can be edited to be worthwhile listening to (as opposed to watching) we'll be posting some of this too.
These free podcasts are just the start. We are also commissioning some more in-depth material. Starting soon we'll have some recordings with Ken Thompson, on 'garden myths' and a whole series, 'Know your plants' which Noel will be recording with renowned teacher of horticulture Caroline Jackson. We hope to have this on stream early in 2025.
"The offerings that you guys share with us are invaluable sources of knowledge and inspiration. It would be great to support gardenmasterclass further. Amazing you guys now have a podcast! I spend hours in the van every week and this is perfect!" CM 9.Sept.2024
Our website and recordings
Our online library of recorded webinars has around 80 hours of information, advice and inspiration from global garden and landscape experts. Take a look, and remember members get discounts. Check out the Members Benefits page!
We also have around 200 hours of recordings from our regular Thursday Garden Chat free broadcast series; all recent ones are on our You Tube channel and older ones are for members only.
Courses
We are running two courses in the autumn, our highly-successful Naturalistic Planting Design Course, with Nigel Dunnett, Noel Kingsbury and Cassian Schmidt, and, in collaboration with Britain’s Landscape Institute, a truly exceptional course on tree selection by leading Swedish academic Henrik Sjöman.
Films
Our first film - Wildside, the Story of a Garden, now has a sequel ! Following Keith Wiley, its creator through the seasons, as he shares his horticultural and design tips. And we’ve got another film available now, about a remarkably atmospheric garden in Wales. Find out more here.
In-person events
Our summer season of live events is well under way, informative visits to Tom Stuart-Smith’s innovative Plant Library, the private arboretum of White House Farm and John Little’s experimental garden - see the diary pages.

Going international
We’re hugely proud of our sister organisations Garden Masterclass Polska and Academia del Paisaje, who we helped set up. They do what we do in Poland and in Spain and the Spanish-speaking Americas. And ‘discussions are being held’ about a Portuguese initiative too! And not affiliated to us, but a sister organisation who do similar things in Germany - Campus Botanicus.
Thursday Garden Chat
We record this every Thursday for our You Tube channel, and crucially …… we run this as a free public service, with ourselves and our contributors giving their time for free. Needless to say there are costs and we really appreciate donations to help with these and to compensate for our time spent on admin and editing.
