Joy Larkcom in conversation with Kitty Scully

Filmed and edited by Anne-Marie Green.

Many of us remember Joy Larkcom as a writer on vegetable growing from the 1980s and 1990s, introducing many of us to less common varieties, particularly the rich diversity of oriental ones. She was also a proponent of organic methods, at a time when that was definitely a minority interest. Unlike many ‘veggie people’ she was a great traveller; in 1976-1977 she and her husband Don, with their two small children, spent a year travelling around mainland Europe looking at vegetable growing - her introduction of ‘Lollo Rosso’ lettuce was one popular outcome. In 1985 she spent toured China, at a time when that was far more of a challenge than it would be today.

So, here she is, as the lively subject of a wonderful interview by Kitty Scully.
